Edward Hines Jr VA Campus New Physical Plant
The Edward Hines Jr. Veterans Administration Hospital is a 174 acre campus with primary healthcare, specialty care and amenities and foundation buildings. In 2011 a new physical plant designed to output 540,000 lbs/hr of 125 PSI steam was designed. The four boiler plant was connected to the existing steam grid with miles of new buried steam and condensate piping and serval vaults. Before the plant could operate in a 30-day acceptance test, Cyclone had to commission and sign-off on all systems including performing a full-building black-out test. The project included SCADA and DDC system commissioning. The boiler plant featured a flue stack economizer heat recovery system.
