(CHICAGO, February 2022) – Cyclone Energy Group announced it has earned the WELL Health-Safety Rating for their Chicago office through the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI). The WELL Health-Safety Rating is an evidence-based, third-party verified rating for all new and existing building and space types focusing on operational policies, maintenance protocols, stakeholder engagement and emergency plans to address a post-COVID-19 environment now and into the future.
Designed to empower owners and operators across large and small businesses alike to take the necessary steps in order to prioritize the health and safety of their staff, visitors and stakeholders, the WELL Health-Safety Rating can help guide users in preparing their spaces for re-entry in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, instilling confidence in those who come through the building as well as the broader community.
“Sustainability, health, and wellness are at the heart of our mission. We are always looking for ways to improve the impact of the built environment while improving building quality for its users. We all have a role to play in the fight against COVID-19. As Cyclones first WELL AP and Performance Testing Agent, I am excited to announce that Cyclone Energy Group, Chicago office, has earned a #WELLHealthSafety Rating, joining global industry leaders committed to implementing evidence-based strategies to address a post COVID-19 environment,” said Sumayyah Theron, Director of Sustainability.
In Order to achieve WELL Health-Safety Rating, Cyclone implemented features that maintain good cleaning protocols to support organizational resilience by helping reduce the risk of infection. Created emergency preparedness and resilience plans which are critical to ensuring Cyclone is equipped to immediately confront a crisis, as well as to recover successfully from it. Cyclone provides resources which focus on ways to foster individual actions that support health and safety for all in a space. Cyclone implemented features to address air and water quality, such as monitoring and operational strategies, to improve the ventilation and filtration in a space. These strategies are critical to identifying and mitigating risks for occupants.
Cyclone supports awareness of health and wellness programs and policies to promote health literacy and encourage engagement with health resources. This leads to both individual benefits – like increased participation in healthy behaviors and use of health services – and also employer benefits, providing an estimated 4:1 return on investment.
The WELL Health-Safety Rating provides a centralized source and governing body to validate efforts made by owners and operators. It leverages insights drawn from the IWBI Task Force on COVID-19, in addition to guidance on the spread of COVID-19 and other respiratory infections developed by the World Health Organization (WHO), U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), global disease control and prevention centers and emergency management agencies, as well as recognized standard-making associations such as ASTM International and ASHRAE, and leading academic and research institutions, as well as core principles already established by IWBI’s WELL Building Standard, the premier framework for advancing health in buildings and spaces of all kinds.
Cyclone Energy Group, Chicago office, was awarded the WELL Health-Safety Rating following the successful completion of third-party documentation review by GBCI to confirm it has met the feature specific intents and requirements.
