5th Annual Innovation Rodeo

All It Took Was A Pandemic: Innovations That Are Changing How We Design, Build and Inhabit Buildings

This ain’t our first Rodeo, but it’s our first virtual one…..

Thanks for joining Cyclone Energy Group and leading innovators in the built environment on three consecutive Thursdays in September for our 5th Annual Innovation Rodeo. As a result of the pandemic, we have changed to a virtual platform this year. To make it more convenient for you to attend all of our sessions, we have spread the topics out over a three week span.

September 10: Policy & Performance

While our building codes and policies slowly take steps towards reducing energy, occasionally innovators take giant leaps. Carol Ross Barney will join us to provide insights into her latest zero-energy project to open: McDonald’s Global Flagship Store – Buena Vista. Doug Farr is going to discuss the Chicago Decarbonization plan and Hans Detweiler and Katie Kaluzny are going to discuss, on a broader scale, decarbonization initiatives and other programs throughout the Midwest.

September 17: Follow The Yellow Brick Road to Energy Efficiency

There are many paths to making meaningful and lasting reductions to your building’s energy footprint. The City Colleges of Chicago have done many projects throughout the years to reduce their footprint and bring energy efficiency and renewable technology into the classroom. John Brophy will discuss what the City Colleges of Chicago are doing with solar photovoltaics and how energy efficiency is being impacted as students return to the classroom. After, Amy Eickhoff will detail how the property she manages, 340 On The Park, has benefitted from major capital retrofit projects and multiple utility funded energy efficiency programs, including Monitoring-Based Commissioning. Greg Swiss and Kelly Majewski will present a case study on how a retro-commissioning project helped the Central Park of Lisle office building realize big energy cost savings.
